Relief Effort in War-Torn Afghanistan


(23 Feb 10 - RV) The commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan went on national television today to apologize for a deadly airstrike which killed several civilians, an extraordinary attempt to regain Afghans' trust while a mass offensive continues against the Taliban in the south.
NATO-led troops are in the 10th day of an operation to flush the Taliban out of Marjah district, where the militants had set up their last big stronghold in Helmand Province
