US Sends More Troops to Support Haiti Relief Efforts
(21 January 10-RV) The United States is sending an extra 4,000 troops to Haiti to
help in relief operations in the wake of a massive earthquake that killed more than
100,000 last week. The troops were requested by the Haitian government, which is trying
to get the tons of aid which have arrived in the country to the people who need them.
We spoke to the Public Affairs Officer at the United States Embassy to the Holy See,
Nathan Bland. He said the United State President, Barack Obama, has pledged to not
forget the Haitian people.
