Sri Lanka Prepares for Early Presidential Elections

(12 January ’10-RV) In Sri Lanka, presidential elections are due to take place at the end of this month. The two main candidates are incumbent President Mahinda Rajapaksa and General Sarath Fonseka, both regarded as the architects of the government's victory over the Tamil Tiger rebels last May.
