Prayer Vigil for unity and peace among families and among nations

(December 30, 2009) The Movement of Family Love, an Association in the Diocese of Rome, is promoting a prayer vigil for "the unity and peace in families and among nations" for the seventh consecutive year, to be held on the night of December 31, 2009 till the early hours of January 1, 2010 at St Peter’s Square in front of the Christmas Crib. Cardinal Giovanni Coppa will open the prayer vigil at 11.30 pm on the 31st of December that will continue throughout the night until 07:00 am in the morning of the New Year. All those present at the prayer with the Movement of Family Love and groups of young people will light up the candle with joy and hope and begin the New Year with songs and prayers. All those present, as well as those who come only for a few minutes at any hour of the night will receive a candle that can be placed in front of the Nativity crib a sign of light and hope, and pray before the Lord in the manger and the Holy Family in the expectations and joys for each family. This vigil is the symbol of Peace to be built primarily in the heart of everyone, which will lead people in families to reach out with respectful collaboration with others. Ultimately this peace must reign in the hearts of peoples and nations in order to build respect for values and fraternal love.
