Indian Priests’ Congress At Velankanni In February


(December 3, 2009) The Conference of the Diocesan Priests of India will organise an Indian Priests Congress at Velankanni in Tamil Nadu, February 9-11, 2010, under the auspices of the CCBI Clergy Commission. For the priests, the congress will be one of the most memorable events of the year for the renewal and recommitment of their lives for Christ and his ministry in India, the organisers said. A thousand priests from all over the country are expected to attend the meet. His Eminence Claudio Cardinal Hummes, the Prefect of Congregation for Clergy, Vatican, has confirmed his participation on all the three days. Also expected to be present are the Apostolic Nuncio, Pedro Lopez Quintana, president of the CCBI, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, and the office-bearers of all the three ritual Churches. Former President of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi and Hindu seer, Swami Agnivesh are among the invitees. Every diocese can send five diocesan priests and one religious for the congress.
