(24 Nov 09 - RV) The Vatican Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity says that
the third phase of dialogue between the Roman Catholic church and Anglican Communion
could begin within the next year. Known as ARCIC, the dialogue was inspired by the
meeting of Archbishop Ramsey of Canterbury and Pope Paul VI in 1966. It entered it’s
second phase in 1983 following Pope John Paul II’s visit to the United Kingdom. Philippa
Hitchen spoke to Monsignor Mark Lagham of the Vatican Council for the Promotion of
Christian Unity who is responsible for Catholic-Anglican dialogue:
