Hopes for Peace in Congo

(17 Oct 09 - RV) There is a real prospect for peace in eastern Congo after years of conflict.
Those were the words of a senior U.N. official yesterday. Earlier this week, a coalition of 84 humanitarian groups issued a report saying more than 1,000 civilians had been killed and nearly 900,000 displaced in eastern Congo by fighting between rebels and Congolese forces since January.
