a three-day conference here in Rome today on preventing and combating AIDS and TB
in young children. Up to 800 children die each day from AIDS-related illnesses
such as TB. Many die in poor countries where a lack of money contributes to difficulties
in diagnosing and treating children with HIV and in preventing transmission of the
virus from their mothers. Monsignor Robert Vitillo is the special advisor for Caritas
