The Council of Europe Tackles Busy Autumn Agenda

(30 Sept 09 - RV) The Autumn Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is under way this week in Strasbourg.
The organization, which spans the entire continent, will hold a belated 60th anniversary ceremony tomorrow.
It recently launched its New Earth Deal and aims to push for a global treaty at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December.
Despite these new objectives, the President of the European Court of Human Rights, Jean-Paul Costa, says universal respect for the rights of individuals is still at the core of the work of the organization...
