(12 Sept 09-RV) Gunshots rang out in the Ugandan capital Kampala yesterday and at
least three people were killed as security forces clashed with rioters for a second
day. The unrest began on Thursday after the government prevented a representative
of the traditional ruler of the Buganda kingdom from travelling to a region northeast
of the capital for a political rally. Residents say the unrest will continue unless
police unblock the roads and allow him to travel. To find out more, Charles Collins
spoke to Uganda-native John Baptist Tumusiime of Vatican Radio’s Africa Section.
