Pope names Coadjutor for the Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi in Pakistan


(Aug.04,2009): Pope Benedict XVI has named Fr. Rufin Anthony as the Co-adjutor of the Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi in Pakistan. At the time of this appointment, Fr. Anthony was the Rector of “Christ the King” Major Seminary” of Karachi, and the Vicar General of Faisalabad. He was born 12th February, 1940 at Khushpur in Faisalabad. After primary and secondary studies in his village of Khushpur, he entered the Minor Seminary of St. Pius X in Quetta, and later “Christ the King” Major Seminary in Karachi. He went to Rome and studied spiritual theology at the Urban University. He was ordained priest on 29 June, 1969.
FR.Rufin Anthony first served in the Diocese of Faisalabad, and later in several other parishes. He was made Vicar General of Faisalabad in 1976 and served for 3 years as Parish Priest of Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral. In 1994, he was made the Rector of the Minor Seminary “St. Thomas the Apostle”, and in 1996 he was made the Rector of the Christ the King Major Seminary and the Vicar General of Faisalabad.
