Christians Arrested on Conversion Claim in Malaysia
(15 July 09 - RV) Malaysian police have arrested nine Christians accused of trying
to convert Muslim university students. The news comes as Malaysian authorities
investigate two Muslims who sparked complaints after they pretended to be Christians
and attended a church service to research rumors of Muslims converting to Christianity.
Father Lawrence Andrew is the editor of Malaysia’s Catholic Weekly, Herald. He says
that religious conversion for Muslims in Malaysia is against the law – a law that
Christians are adamant to respect.
