Holy Father sends the Message for the death of Father Pasquale Borgomeo, SJ
(July 04, 2009) Pope Benedict XVI has conveyed his condolences to Reverend Father
Adolfo Nicolas Superior General Society of Jesus at the death of the Jesuit Father
Pasquale Borgomeo, former director of Vatican Radio. The message that was forwarded
through Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone Secretary of State, and read by Fr Federico Lombardi,
the Director Vatican Radio at the funeral service held at la Chiesa di Santo Spirito
in Sassia, Borgo santo Spirito, on July 4th Saturday morning. The message
read: Supreme Pontiff wishes to express heartfelt condolences to the family members
and the members of the Society of Jesus affected by his death and while he remembers
with gratitude the generous and responsible work in communications service rendered
by him. He offers his soul to the maternal intercession of the Blessed Virgin and
from the depth of his heart sends to relatives and brothers and faithful gathered
in celebration of his suffrage his comforting apostolic blessing. Father Pasquale
Borgomeo, who died Thursday in Rome, was 76. and was with Vatican Radio for 35 years,
and died "with a spirit of acceptance of God's will, accompanied by the prayers of
his brothers in the Society of Jesus, his family and friends, and especially, the
Holy Father, who was informed of his worsening health," said Jesuit Father Federico
Lombardi, his successor.
