International Conference on Astronomy Closes at the Vatican

(26 June 09 - RV) A week-long international congress hosted by the Vatican Observatory came to a close today.

The event coincided with the summer school hosted by the Observatory, which brings together astronomers and students from around the world.

The theme of the meeting was exploring the ways astronomy could be a common ground for dialogue among cultures.

The event was one of many being planned to mark the International Year of Astronomy.

Jesuit Brother Guy Consolmagno is an astronomer at the Observatory.

He spoke to Emer McCarthy about the meeting. RealAudioMP3
