Pope to Visit Monte Cassino

(23 May 09 - RV) Tomorrow Pope Benedict XVI is scheduled to visit Monte Cassino, where in the year 529, St. Benedict of Nursia established his first monastery, the wellspring of Benedictine monasticism and the source of a spiritual energy that spread the faith, preserved culture and transformed civilization in the centuries following the collapse of the Roman Empire in the West.
