Archbishop Martin of Dublin: "Abuse Report Must Not Be Shelved!"
(21 May 09 - RV) It was a sombre day for the Church in Ireland as the nation tried
to come to terms with the shocking revelations of the Ryan Report.
The report
was the result of a 10 year government inquiry into allegations of the abuse of children
in Schools and Institutions jointly run by the Irish State and Religious Orders in
the second half of the last century.
Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin
told us that this report must not be shelved instead it must remain as a warning that
the protection and wellbeing of children must be the priority of every member of society.
