Sri Lankan Bishops Urge Reconciliation

(19 May 09 – RV) Sri Lanka's president declared his country «liberated from separatist terror» today. In a statement released today the President of the Sri Lankan Bishops Conference, Archbishop Oswald Gomis of Colombo, welcomed the end of hostilities in Sri Lanka but added: “the  battle has been won but the war will only end when all of Sri Lanka’s citizens, Tamil and Sinhalese are one people in one country with equal right”.
