(27 Apr 09 - RV) Taliban militants have been killed by government forces in the Lower
Dir district of Pakistan. Those targeted were suspected of killing a local mayor and
several police officers. The push appeared to endanger a peace deal struck with
Taliban militants in neighbouring Swat Valley. Under the deal, the government agreed
to impose Islamic law in Swat and surrounding districts if the Taliban would end their
violent campaign in the region. John Kelly spoke to Ikram Seghel, a defense analyst
from the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs, to find out what this meant
for the future of the peace deal…
