Pope Benedict Receives Secretary General of League of Arab States

(24 Apr 09 - RV) The Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Amr Moussa, was received by Pope Benedict the XVI here at the Vatican this evening. The meeting comes after yesterday’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Secretariat of State of the Holy See and the League of Arab States. The agreement further consolidates their existing ties of collaboration especially at a political and cultural level.
Delegate to the Arab League, Archbishop Michael Fitzgerald spoke to Philippa Hitchen about the Memorandum and interest within the League to the Pope’s upcoming visit to the Holy Land.
