Husband and wife appointed members of Vatican’s PC for Family
(April 24, 2009) A husband and wife couple who serve as the national presidents of
the Christian Family Movement in Argentina have been appointed by Pope Benedict as
members of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Family. Pablo Adrián Cavallero
and Marcela Estela Benhaim Varela de Cavallero are both 52 years old and the parents
of six children. Their four oldest children are parish directors. Pablo has a doctorate
in literature with a specialization in classic languages and his wife is a biochemist.
The Pope named them to the council for a five-year term. After serving as presidents
of the Buenos Aires division of the Christian Family Movement, they were elected the
national presidents last year and will serve in that position until 2011.
