Cardinal Kasper Reflects on Meeting with Greek Orthodox Leader
(25 February 2009 RV) The Vatican’s top spokesman on ecumenical dialogue, Cardinal
Walter Kasper has just returned from a visit to Athens. While there he met for the
first time with the leader of the Orthodox church. The Greek Orthodox church, which
officially includes over 95% of the population, has traditionally been wary of contacts
or dialogue with other Christians. But, in recent years under the reform minded Archbishop
Christoldoulos, relations with the Holy See have made significant progress. We spoke
