(29 Jan 09 - RV) The United Nations has launched an emergency appeal for $613 million
to help Palestinians recover from Israel's attack on Gaza. Speaking at the World Economic
Forum, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said help is urgently needed, and added
that the appeal will cover the requirements of the U.N. and other aid organisations
for the next 6 to 9 months. One of the aid organisations currently working in
Gaza is Catholic Relief Services. Their Country Representative for Gaza, Matthew Davies
told us what the immediate needs are.
