Delhi Archdiocese to conclude celebrations of India’s first woman saint on Nov.16
(Nov.14,2008): The Delhi archdiocese will conclude the celebrations of the canonization
of India’s first woman saint - Sr. Alphonsa on Sunday, Nov. 16 with a series of
programs. All the three ritual Churches of the Latin rite, the Syro Malabar rite
and the Syro- Malankara rite will join in the programs, which includes a Mass, a meeting,
a procession and the release of a commemorative postal stamp of the saint. The program
will conclude with a spiritual procession carrying the saint’s relic in a decorative
vehicle through all the parishes of the archdiocese. Sunday’s program will start
with a solemn Mass with the participation of priests from the three ritual Churches.
The Department of posts, under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology
that will issue the Rs.5 commemorative stamp of St. Alphonsa said it will most probably
be released by a central minister.
