“May God help U.S.President Elect Obama, bring peace” says Vatican.
(Nov.05,2008):-The Vatican said Wednesday it hoped U.S. President-elect, Barack Obama,
will work to promote peace and justice in the world. “All of us are hoping that Obama
will be able to meet the expectations and hopes directed at him,” said Papal spokesman
Jesuit Fr. Federico Lombardi. He said the “Vatican hoped that the man elected to
be the United States' first black president, would work for the cause of rights and
justice, finding suitable ways to promote peace in the world, fostering people's development
and dignity, while respecting essential human and spiritual values. The faithful are
praying so that God may enlighten him and give him a hand in his huge responsibility,
so that he will govern well,” said Fr. Lombardi.
The Pope is likely to issue
a statement wishing Obama well, when he is sworn into office in January,” Fr. Lombardi
indicated. He said he did not single out specific problems such as the world economic
crisis because the Vatican Catholic Church's pronouncements generally deal with emphasizing
spiritual and moral values.
