(05 Nov 08 - RV) Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi expressed his best wishes
to US president elect Barak Obama, who made history Tuesday as the first black man
to be elected to the office of president in the United States.
In his statement
Wednesday, Fr Lombardi said: “We hope the new president Obama will have the ability
to respond to the expectations that await him, to meet the demands of law and justice
effectively, find suitable ways to promote world peace, and to promote the growth
and dignity of persons in respect of human and spiritual values essential''. '
He
also prayed that God would enlighten and assist president elect Obama in meeting the
responsibilities of his office for the good of the United States and the whole world”.
