Pope encourages Knights of Columbus in holiness and Church’s mission
(October 3, 2008) Pope Benedict XVI met the Board of Directors of the Knights of
Columbus in the Vatican on Friday and urged the organization to grow in holiness and
active participation in the Church’s mission. This, the Pope pointed out, was the
vision that inspired the foundation of the Catholic fraternal benefits association
and it continues to find privileged expression in the order’s charitable works and
concrete solidarity with the Successor of Peter in his ministry to the universal Church.
The Pope particularly thanked the Knights for their fund to the Holy See for the use
of the Church throughout the world. This solidarity, he said, is also shown through
their daily prayers and sacrifices in their local Councils, parishes and communities.
