Election of Livni May Help Economic and Poverty Issues
(20 Sept 08 - RV) In Israel, the election of Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni this week
as leader of the ruling Kadima Party puts her on path to be the country’s new Prime
Minister. As foreign minister, she was in charge of the on-going negotiations with
the Holy See to write an agreement governing economic and property issues involving
the Catholic Church. One of the participants of those negotiations, Franciscan Father
David-Maria Jaeger, says her election may help bring the negotiations to a conclusion.
