Dead Man Declared Muslim by Malaysian Courts

(08 July 08 - RV) An Islamic court in Malaysia has declared a deceased man a Muslim, making it virtually impossible for his Hindu family to cremate his body.

This is the latest dispute over religious conversions in the predominantly Muslim country.

Father Lawrence Andrew is the Editor of the Malaysian Catholic weekly, Herald. He told Kelsea Brennan-Wessels that little can be done in religious conversion disputes in the Muslim-dominated country.
