Obama Claims Democratic Nomination in United States

(04 Jun 08 - RV) United States President George W. Bush Wednesday offered his congratulations to Sen. Barack Obama for securing the Democratic presidential nomination. Obama declared his victory Tuesday, and began eying his November showdown with Republican nominee Senator John McCain.

Obama’s main rival for the nomination, Hilary Clinton has yet to concede defeat. Her campaign has said it will decide what steps to take in the coming days, but argues that their candidate has actually won the majority of the votes cast in the primary battle.
