Pope Makes Appointments to Poland, Algiers and Propaganda Fides
(24 May 08 - RV) Pope Benedict XVI made several appointments today:
Archbishop
Henryk Hoser, until now the Adjunct Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization
of Peoples and President of the Pontifical Mission Societies, will become the Bishop
of Warsaw-Praga in Poland.
He will be replaced at Propaganda Fides by Monsignor
Piergiuseppe Vacchelli, until now the Undersecretary of the Italian Episcopal Conference
and President of the Committee for Charitable Works to Aid the Third World.
Monsignor
Paolo De Nicolò, Regent of the Prefecture of the Pontifical Household, has been appointed
Bishop of the Titular See of Mariana in Corsica.
Also today Pope Benedict accepted
the resignation of the Archbishop Henri Teissier as the Metropolitan Archbishop of
the Archdiocese of Algiers in Algeria.
Father Ghaleb Moussa Abdalla Bader,
of the clergy of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and until now President of the
Ecclesiastical Tribunal for First Instance in Amman, Jordan, has been nominated Metropolitan
Archbishop of Alger.
And finally,
In the Vatican’s Diplomatic corps,
Archbishop Anselmo Guido Pecorari, has been appointed the Apostolic Nuncio in Uruguay,
replacing Archbishop Janusz Bolonek who has been appointed to Bulgaria
