(21 May 08 - RV)The Dublin conference seeking to draft an international treaty to
ban cluster bombs is continuing today, with over 100 countries in attendance. The
Holy See is one of the chief initiators of the conference, and Pope Benedict gave
his personal support for it during his Angelus message on Sunday.We spoke to the head
of the Holy See’s Delegation, Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, who is also the Holy See’s
Permanent Observer to the United Nations Institutions in Geneva. He said cluster munitions
pose a grave danger to civilians in conflict zones.
