(01 May 08 - RV) Officials have begun verifying the results of Zimbabwe's March 29
presidential poll.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission began the process
one day after senior government sources said that MDC opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai
had beaten President Robert Mugabe in the election but not by enough of a margin to
avoid a run-off ballot.
We spoke to Trudi Stevenson former MDC deputy to
the national assembly, who says a run-off election would spell disaster for Zimbabwe.
