(28 Apr 08 - RV) Pope Benedict XVI’s appeal for an end to the horror of Darfur comes
amid a campaign launched this week by an international coalition of 29 human rights
groups.
The campaign marks the first anniversary of the International
Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants for two suspects of alleged human rights abuses
and war crimes - Ahmed Haroun, Sudan's Humanitarian Affairs Minister, and Ali Kushayb,
a Janjaweed militia leader.
