Pakistan Frees Pro-Taliban Leader

(22 Apr 08 - RV) Pakistan has released a pro-Taliban leader who sent thousands of fighters against the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan.The gesture appears to be part of efforts to broker peace with Islamic militants,There has been no comment from the government on the freeing of Sufi Muhammad, who was jailed in 2002 and then shifted to a hospital five months ago because of poor health. However Defense Analyst Ikram Sehgal with the Pakistan Institute Of International Affairs says that in this case the government has actually done the right thing.
