Ireland Called On To Decriminalise Abortion

(20 Mar 08 - RV) In a new report the Council of Europe's Committee on Equal Opportunities has called on Ireland to decriminalise abortion, saying all Member States should guarantee the access to the ability to kill the unborn.

The report says Ireland’s current ban does not reduce the number of abortions and can also lead to more dangerous and clandestine procedures.

However Patrick Kenny of the Pro-Life Campaign in Ireland says the report is highly inaccurate.
