Muslim Delegates Meet with Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue
(05 Mar 08 -RV) A Delegation of the Signatories of the Open Letter, “A Common Word”,
addressed to Pope Benedict XVI and signed by 138 Muslim intellectual, political and
cultural leaders concluded a two-day meeting with a Delegation representing the Pontifical
Council for Inter-religious Dialogue today at the Vatican.
A joint communiqué
from the participants said in order to further develop Catholic-Muslim dialogue, the
participants agreed to establish “The Catholic-Muslim Forum” and to organize the first
Seminar of the Forum in Rome from 4 to 6 November 2008. At a Press Conference
this afternoon in Rome, one of the Muslim Delegates, Dr. Aref Ali Nayed said the meeting,
though primarily technical, nevertheless achieved some important results:
