Iraqi Police Comb Mosul for Abducted Archbishop

(02 Mar 08 - RV ) Security forces fanned out in the northern city of Mosul this weekend tightening their search for Archbishop Raho around the Nur district of the city.


In Baghdad, United Nations special representative for Iraq, Staffan de Mistura condemned the kidnapping, while Syriac Christian archbishop of Mosul, Msgr. Casmoussa, confirmed that Church leaders have begun negotiations for the Archbishop’s release.


Chaldean (Cal-dee-an) Catholic Archbishop of Kirkuk Louis Sako, says prayers and masses are being offered for his safe return.
