the U.S. Embassy is urging Americans to be vigilant, and French cultural centres in
two major Lebanese cities have temporarily closed, following a violent escalation
last week in Lebanon's protracted political crisis. Christians continue to play a
unique role in the multi-cultural and religiously varied country, as Lebanon's Foreign
