Apology First Step on Road to Reconciliation for Australians
(30 Jan 08 - RV ) Australia is set to apologise to the country's indigenous people
for forcibly removing generations of Aboriginal children from their families.
Canberra
announced today that on Feb. 13 an apology to the so-called «stolen generations» of
Aborigines will be the first item of business for the new Parliament in a move that
had divided Australians for decades.
We spoke to Catholic Chaplain Father Asaeli
Raas who helps minister to aboriginals in the Alice Springs area and is himself
indigenous. He says the apology marks a great step forward.
