Pope's Message for the 42nd World Day of Communications

(26 Jan 08 - RV) Pope Benedict XVI this week released his message for the occasion of the 42^nd World Day for Communications. The message is titled, “The Media: At the Crossroads Between Self-Promotion and Service. Searching for the Truth in Order to Share it with Others.” The message is critical of mass media tendencies toward violence and vulgarity; however, as the Director of Communications for the Society of Jesus in Britain, Ged Clapson explains, it is also extremely appreciative of the good that media can do.
