Korean Bishops on Ad Limina

(27 Nov 07 - RV) The Korean bishops have begun their ad limina pilgrimage to the Holy See, and during the next few days they will have a series of meetings with Pope Benedict XVI and officials of the Roman Curia.
There are over 5 million Catholics in the Korean Church, the majority in the South, making it the 4th largest catholic nation in Asia. Despite this the bishops have expressed their concern over spreading secularism as well as the challenges of abortion, the death penalty, stem cell research and the nuclear arms race. Today defence ministers from North and South of the border which has divided the peninsula for over 50 years, held key talks today in Pyongyang, focusing on improving relations between the two countries and ending North Korea’s nuclear program. John Swenson Wright is a lecturer in international relations at cambridge university. He says the talks are part of an ongoing process of collaboration between the two neighbours: RealAudioMP3
