Military Response to Rebels in Philippines

(10 Aug 07 - RV) The Philippine military is stepping up offensives against Muslim rebels after the heaviest fighting in the volatile south in nearly three years. Fifty eight people were killed on the remote southern island of Jolo in clashes yesterday. Boye Belacura of the Diocese of Davow says the bishops are meeting to discuss the current violence.
