(1 Aug 07 - RV ) The Law commission of the House of Lords has issued a report on cohabitation
in the United Kingdom. The law commission’s proposals, which concern the financial
consequences of cohabiting relationship breakdown, are designed to alleviate the consequences
that arise in case of separation. The Catholic Bishop’s Conference of England Wales
issued a response to the report. The bishops say the Commission will safeguard the
institution of marriage in its efforts to help those in cohabitating relationships
who face injustice and hardship. The chair of bishops conference’s committee on marriage
