(27 January 2007 - RV) Nineteen Cuban illegal migrants came ashore earlier this week
in the backyard of the home of a U.S. Naval Air Station in a homemade boat. The group
of twelve men, five women and two children are to be processed by U.S. Customs and
Border Protection. Theirs is a story shared by thousands of Cubans trying to reach
the U.S. each year by sea. Those found on shore are generally allowed to stay, while
those found at sea are usually returned to the communist island. Vanessa Greco takes
a closer look at the Cuban refugee situation.
