(26 Oct 06 - RV)Vietnam was accepted today as the World Trade Organization’s 150th
member.
With a population of 84 million, Vietnam has been the second most populous
country behind Russia still outside the WTO.
As a WTO member, the country
will benefit from the removal of quotas that limit textile exports to europe and the
united states.
Vice director of Vatican Radio’s Vietnamese Section, Fr Joseph
Hoang Minh Thang, said he hoped WTO entry would mean improved job prospects, salaries
and general working conditions for people in the country…
