Pope Benedict XVI expresses grief and prayers for Rome’s tragic metro incident


(Wed. 18 Oct.2006): - Pope Benedict XVI expressed his grief and solidarity to all those affected by Rome’s tragic incident of the “metro” underground train on Tuesday, Oct. 17th morning. At the end of the general audience on Wed.Oct. 18, the Pontiff told some thousands of pilgrims and tourists attending the weekly encounter in St. Peter’s Square, that he heard the tragic news with great sorrow.” I wish to express my comfort and nearness to all those affected by this tragic incident” said Pope Benedict and assured them of his special prayers.
