( 16 Oct 2006 RV) The bishops of Ireland began their two week pilgrimage to the tombs
of the Apostles Monday morning, with a celebration of solemn mass before the tomb
of the first apostle Peter.
The bishops from all four ecclesial provinces
are led by Archbishop Sean Brady from the archdiocese of Armagh, who is primate of
Ireland.
Following mass Archbishop Brady led a first group to meet in private
with Pope Benedict xvi. During the two weeks mass will be celebrated by the bishops
in all four roman basilicas.
