The Call to Abolish Capital Punishment in Indonesia
(23 August 2006 - RV) Defence attorneys for three Indonesian Catholics convicted of
inciting religious violence and facing execution have promised to continue pressing
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to pardon their clients. Meanwhile,
the number of people calling for the abolition of capital punishment in the country
is growing. We spoke to Monsignor Rugambwa Novatus, Councilor at the Apostolic Nunciature
in Jakarta.
