The Feast of Saint Lawrence

(10 Aug 06 - RV) Although Rome traditionally slows down during August, the tenth day of the month does bring life to several of the city’s churches – those dedicated to San Lorenzo. In English, his name is Saint Lawrence. He is the 3rd century deacon who was burned alive by the pagan emperor when he gave the treasury of the church to the city’s poor.
