audience
(August 09, 2006):- Pope Benedict XVI renews call for peace in Middle East. Pope
Benedict XVI kept up his appeals for prayers and peace in the Middle East, saying
goodwill and trust are needed to obtain a ceasefire and a just and lasting solution
of the conflict. He made the appeal during Wednesday’s general audience in Rome. In
this latest of a series of appeals, the Pontiff said - “My heartfelt thoughts
go once again to the beloved region of the Middle East. To all, I renew my appeal
to intensify prayer to obtain the sought-after gift of peace”.The Pope also greeted
a group of pilgrims from the Indian Diocese of Vasai in Maharashtra, who were
among the thousands of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world attending the
general audience in Pope Paul VI Audience Hall. After his catechetical discourse,
which this week dwelt on Christianity as the religion of love, the Pope , as he usully
does during the weekly general audiences, greets the people in various languages,
including Italian, English, French, German, Polish and Portuguese. The Pope greeted
the pilgrims from India in his address to the English speaking groups, who this week
came from Scotland, India, China and Korea
